Popular team events as well as individual championships for men, women and juniors remain on the roster for 2025 at courses the length and breadth of the nation.
Toni Ffinch, senior events manager at Scottish Golf, said: “The curtain has just fallen on the 2024 season, but we’re already planning for what promises to be a thrilling 2025 with events for golfers of all abilities.
“This year we had over 3000 entries for our events and welcomed golfers from 33 different countries.
“We would anticipate a similar demand for 2025 with Scotland offering not only some of the world’s bucket list courses, but also a range of community-focused clubs that serve up a welcoming and friendly environment in which to enjoy the game.
”The season tees off in April with three outstanding opens – the Scottish Boys’ Open at West Kilbride, the Scottish Girls’ Open at Arbroath followed by the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open at Royal Troon.
In May, Rowallan Castle will host the Scottish Open for Golfers with a Disability won last year by Australia’s Wayne Perske and bolstered this year by the addition of PING, one of the world’s leading golf brands, as title sponsor.
May concludes with the Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship at Western Gailes, an event won this year by Curtis Cup star Lorna McClymont, and the Scottish Men’s Open Championship hosted by North Berwick.
Entries for the North Berwick event are expected to rival the record number of applicants achieved ahead of the 2024 championship.A total of 375 golfers applied to play at Muirfield with England’s Dominic Clemons producing one of the stories of the year when he shot a final round 62 to win by a staggering 17 shots.
The 2025 Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship is sure to attract a quality field to Gullane with competitors aiming to follow in the footsteps of past winners including Colin Montgomerie, Stephen Gallacher, Bob MacIntyre as well as current champion Alexander Farmer.
“This coming year with venues such as North Berwick, Gullane and Royal Troon on the schedule we are blessed to have world-class facilities that are keen to work with Scottish Golf and showcase the best that Scotland has to offer,“ added Ffinch.
“However, we’re also proud of the fact that golf is Scotland’s game for everyone and because of the variety of our events, there is genuinely something to suit golfers of all levels.
“PING’s sponsorship of the Scottish Open for Golfers with a Disability will enhance an event that we’re keen to grow while the Scottish Open Series continues to be a staple of our championship season.
“Our six qualifiers for 2025 encourage club golfers and OpenPlay members to enjoy competitive golf at a range of excellent venues culminating in the grand final at Turnberry’s Robert The Bruce course.
“Our joint boys’ and girls’ Under 14 Open Championship is back again this year and the senior events are always well subscribed and produce some outstanding champions.
“Entries for all our events will open online at the end of January, but with the early release of this schedule we hope that it will allow golfers to plan well in advance as well as creating a bit of a buzz for the challenges that lie ahead.”
