THE COURSES
Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club comprises of 27 links style golf holes with the par 72 championship links known as The Barassie Links and the nine hole layout named The Hillhouse. The courses offer quality links golf to both members and visitors alike and a venue that is frequently used by the R&A for premier events on the international golf calendar.
The Club moved to its current location on the outskirts of Troon from its original home in Kilmarnock at the end of the nineteenth century and for more than a hundred years remained an eighteen hole layout until the decision was made in the 1990’s to acquire adjacent land and expand the facility to include nine new holes.
The result is a lengthened championship course which comprises nine of the original holes from the traditional course and nine new build. The course continues to evolve and progress and in recent years the addition of a new “signature” par 3 (the twelfth) and for 2022 the realignment of the 13th hole are testimony to a golf club that is always looknig to improve the challenge for the member and visitor.
The nine hole Hillhouse comprises of a loop of the nine holes not used on the Barassie Links and it in itself offers a really challenging par 34 on the same quality greens and fairways as its longer neighbour.
In addition to the 27 holes Barassie has an excellent practice area comprising two pitching greens with bunkers as well as a large putting green to the front of the clubhouse and two practice nets for warming up.

Hosting Events
Through its history the club has been proud to have been host to a number of quality amateur and professional events including Open Championship Final Qualifying and prestigious amatueur titles such as British Boys’ Amateur Championships, Scottish Amateur Championships, Junior Opens and most recently the 2021 Women’s Amateur Championship.
