Top broadcasters and avid golfers ready to help honour the stars and grassroots heroes of the Scottish game on 14 March Eilidh Barbour and Martin Geissler, two of Scotland’s most respected broadcasters, have today been named as hosts of this year’s Scottish Golf Awards, delivered in partnership with Limitless DMC/21CC Group. Eilidh and Martin will be centre stage when stars of the Scottish professional and amateur scene as well as stalwarts of the club and grassroots game are honoured at the ceremony on 14 March at voco® Grand Central Glasgow. In their respective fields of sports and news journalism, Eilidh and Martin are recognised as presenters of talent and integrity. Both are also self-confessed golf fanatics and can’t wait to play their part in what promises to be a fabulous night celebrating all that’s good about the game of golf in Scotland. Eilidh is a member of Scottish Golf’s OpenPlay platform for independent golfers and regularly enjoys a game at Gleneagles with her friends where she plays off a Handicap Index® of 17.9. Eilidh said: “Golf is an important part of my life – both professionally and socially. “I’m really looking forward to co-hosting these awards. “There are so many inspirational stories across our sport that it will be fantastic to showcase them to a wider audience and applaud all the work that goes on at clubs and in communities all over Scotland.” For the past 13 years, Martin has been an active member of Muckhart Golf Club where he plays off (but never to!) a Handicap Index® of 10.1. Martin said: “I love my golf and I’m really looking forward to the return of the Awards and helping to celebrate the achievements of all the finalists. “Over the years as a member at Muckhart, I’ve learned to appreciate just how much work goes on behind the scenes to ensure the grassroots of the game remain strong. “It’s only right that we all take time to recognise these unsung heroes of the game as well as honouring the stars of the sport that represent Scotland so well on a global stage.” As the face of BBC’s golf coverage and the main anchor for SKY Sports’ coverage of Scottish football, Eilidh is one of television’s most respected and recognisable figures. In the world of golf, Eilidh has presented from all four Majors as well as the Ryder Cup. She also regularly fronts Football Focus, Final Score, FA Cup draws and highlights, as well as The Women’s Football Show for BBC. Eilidh has also covered assignments at FIFA Women’s World Cups, the Winter Olympics, Women’s Six Nations rugby and football’s European Championships. During an illustrious 35-year career on screen covering news for ITN and BBC in more than 70 countries, Martin is acknowledged as one of the most informed journalists on the beat. As a correspondent with ITN, his job took him to many of the major conflicts and natural disasters of the 21st century. He covered the Gulf War, the Asian Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, the Afghan conflict, the Arab Spring and much more. As Africa Correspondent, his work undercover inside Zimbabwe was nominated for prestigious Emmy, BAFTA and Royal Television Society awards. He’s also received international recognition for humanitarian reporting. After many years working as a foreign correspondent, Martin moved to the BBC to become a presenter on television and radio. He now also hosts a current affairs podcast, Scotcast. Together, Martin and Eilidh will announce the winners across 11 categories at the Scottish Golf Awards 2025. Six categories drew entries from the public before an independent judging panel shortlisted three finalists in each category. The categories are Club of the Year (sponsored by Pin Vision), Coach of the Year, Golf Futures Award (sponsored by DotGolf), Impact and Innovation Award (sponsored by Citation), Spirit of Golf Award and Golf For All Community Award.
