NEW PARTNERSHIP BOOST FOR SCOTTISH GOLF CLUBS AND THEIR MEMBERS

Capital Credit Union (CCU) has signed up to a new partnership with Scottish Golf to help club members pay their annual subscriptions.

The groundbreaking deal means golfers across Scotland can spread the cost of their annual membership with a CCU loan, with the clubs receiving the full payment up front without bearing any of the risks if a member defaults on that loan.

The scheme is being rolled out to all clubs around the country with over 30 already interested. CCU’s chief executive Marlene Shiels said:

“This partnership is proving to be extremely popular and aims to provide a simple and ethical finance option to help golf club members spread the cost of their annual membership. In challenging economic times, we recognise the value in clubs offering different payment options for membership subscriptions”.

“Under this scheme, golf clubs benefit from upfront payments and reduced administrative costs, as CCU assumes responsibility for managing any loan defaults”.

This offer has been produced following research and consultation with a cross section of Scottish golf clubs to help them offer more flexible memberships and stabilise their cash flow.

Jakob Van Den Berg, VMS Manager at Scottish Golf added:

“One of Scottish Golf’s key objectives is to create strong, financially sustainable clubs, and this partnership provides a practical, tangible financial solution.

By partnering with Capital Credit Union, we are offering access to affordable and ethical finance solutions to golf clubs and their members. By widening access to membership fees through ethical lending, clubs can grow the game by welcoming more members to the club. Capital Credit Union’s Membership Finance product will help golf clubs combat rising operational and administrative costs whilst delivering a valuable solution to retain their members during challenging economic times.””

CCU is one of the country’s largest credit unions with over 31,000 members and partnership links with nearly 100 employers across Scotland.
