Despite plenty of cloud cover, the weather remained warm and close at Ashford Golf Club as the field assembled to do battle for the Rooke Salver, a competition that began in 1984 for women over the age of 60. With strong home representation, would a visitor be able to rise to the challenge and claim the silverware?
There was some excellent scoring on display, and 37 points was only good enough for third place for home player Jenny Spedding. Taking the runner-up spot with an excellent 44 points was Angela Grant (Marriott Tudor Park), but no one could reach the dizzy heights of Ashford’s Immediate Past Captain, Janet James, who took the salver with a splendid 46 points. Many congratulations, Janet, on a commanding victory!
Our thanks go to Chris and his team at Ashford for looking after us so well; it is always a pleasure to enjoy your hospitality, and we hope to return in the near future.
