Mark Simpson is BB&O Seniors Champion

With a record number of entries for our Seniors Championship, 72 of the very best golfers aged 55 and over headed to Beaconsfield Golf Club to compete for their chance to be crowned the 2025 BB&O Seniors Champion. The cold breeze provided a chilly start to the event. Previous winner John Kennedy (Frilford Heath) and Martyn Metcalfe (Henley) set the pace shooting 76 (+4). Mark Bradley (Henley) wanting to go one better than his second place finish last year, got his tournament off to a good start with a 74 (+2) to sit 2 shots back after round 1. Richard Jones (Ellesborough) had a steady round to throw himself into contention going into round 2. Mark Simpson (The Caversham) shot -1 on the back nine to take the lead with a level par 72. It is set to be an exciting second day with plenty of past champions and rookies in the mix ready to lift the trophy.

As the temperature improved for day two, so did the scoring. George Wilson (Calcite Park) threw himself back in contention after a second round level par to finish +6 for the event. Phil Sewell (Castle Royle) won the over 70’s trophy. George won the 65-69 age division for the second year in a row.

Robin Carter (Mill Ride) won the 55-59 trophy on count back to John Kennedy. It all came down to the final hole between Mark Bradley and Mark Simpson as they both stood +5 on the 18th tee box. A steady par for Mark Simpson secured him the victory. Congratulations to Mark Simpson on being crowned the BB&O Seniors Champion for 2025.

This is a fantastic achievement. Mark will go on to compete in the Champion of Champions event at Woodall Spa later in the year – we wish him the best of luck.
