Scottish Golf launches new Community Disability Hub Programme with sessions set to run across Scotland
As part of its mission to make golf Scotland’s Game for Everyone, and in collaboration with the Scottish Golf Charitable Trust (the SGCT), Scottish Golf has announced a new Community Disability Hub Programme. This fantastic initiative will offer coaching sessions across Scotland for participants with a disability to experience structured-based, interactive sessions led by club volunteers, Community Golf Instructors (CGIs) and PGA professionals.  All sessions are open to individuals who have a physical, sensory, or learning disability, no matter their circumstances. Whether you are starting out within the sport and want to find your feet, or you are an experienced golfer looking for a space to develop and thrive, these sessions offer a safe, engaging and fun environment for all. Seize the opportunity to get outdoors in the fresh air, meet new people, try something different and find out what golf has to offer you.
Although our Community Disability Hub Programme will vary slightly from session to session, each one will combine the following core values:
Empower – Create an environment for people with disabilities to achieve and thrive in.
Engage  – Nurture a positive attitude and enthusiasm for club, facility, and workforce to offer regular initiatives.
Experience  – Develop skills, build confidence and on-course playing opportunities, removing any potential barriers to participation.
Inspire – Encourage both new and improving golfers to attend sampler sessions.
Retention  - Golfers being encouraged to return for structured sessions with aspirations to develop further. Each session will begin with an initial ‘sampler’; participants will have the opportunity to take part in three key aspects of golf – putting, chipping and full swing.
Future session plans will be determined through observing participants’ differing levels of ability, ensuring that participants get the most out of the experience.
Scottish Golf will tailor the sessions to suit individuals’ ability and providing further direction within the sport. Sessions may involve the following opportunities: Driving range sessions EDGA Classification (specific venues only) Learning the fundamentals of golf through activities and games On-course scenarios  Support with registering for an EDGA Pass Tailored skills development  Scottish Golf’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, Alan Oliver, said:
‘We are delighted to be able to offer these opportunities and hopefully we will see many more participants joining us on their golfing journey.
It is our aspiration to build community disability hubs across the country, as we believe in providing opportunities for individuals to enjoy all the benefits the sport can offer, both socially and competitively.
Golf is an accessible sport with the potential to welcome all in an engaging environment whilst making friendships along the way, and we would encourage anyone to get involved.’
